The first part of mirroring a dataset is having something to mirror. Here we are mirroring the IRI Data Library.

IRI Data Library - the top page of the IRI Data Library. There are three major goals: helping users find suitable datasets, providing a useful summary of the dataset once found, and helping users make use of the data in that dataset. The underlying software (INGRID) uses an object-oriented approach to create a WWW-accessible environment where datasets can be found, accessed, viewed, and manipulated.
Top of dataset tree - This interface is generated from the metadata and data found in a directory tree of documented datasets. By starting at the top of the tree and working down, one can find all the public datasets in the data library. One can also apply many tools and analysis filters to the data, including the Data Viewer, a tool that displays data and metadata depending on the structure and complexity of the given dataset.
Top of dataset tree as THREDDS - (run through an xml2html translator so we can see it: the xml itsself is here). In addition to Ingrid's usual way of providing an interface to the tree of datasets, Ingrid can also serve the tree as THREDDS xml. This is essentially a machine-readable version of the collection, allowing any THREDDS/DODS client to display and manipulate any of the data.
